ForeverTalent Changelog

This changelog records what this website imported, generated, migrated, or changed in its calculator code. It is not a game patch-notes page: talent-design differences between WoW Forever and Classic belong on the Changes vs Classic page.

November 5, 2026 — Official snapshot import

The site replaced its comparison-era source with the official WoW Forever talent export for build 1.60.1.70790. The importer validated the source digest before writing snapshot snap-4c0dd5427276.

  • Site data model: imported 9 classes, 27 trees, 468 talents and 1,302 published ranks.
  • Identity preserved: official class, tree, talent and spell IDs remain in the dataset; talent-array order is retained for the Build Code encoder.
  • Codec: added separate official v9_ Build Code import and export alongside the existing #b= site share codec.
  • Evidence: 1,301 of 1,302 ranks have effect text. The one missing rank is rendered as Unknown rather than inferred.
  • Migration: legacy snapshot IDs snap-29c345bcd595, snap-ce4da8695e9d remain accepted by the old share-link decoder.

October 15, 2026 — Snapshot 70291 migration

The calculator moved to the beta data snapshot associated with build 70291. This entry records the site-side import and migration, not a balance changelog. Existing #b= links were decoded against their recorded snapshot, mapped through renamed talent IDs where available, and validated against the new rules.

September 17, 2026 — Initial calculator release

First public release of the independent calculator: nine classes, three trees per class, the 51-point budget, local build storage, comparison and snapshot-aware site sharing. Later imports replaced the underlying game data without changing the public URL structure.

How data and link migrations work

  1. Validate the source release, digest, IDs, references, row gates and official array order before importing.
  2. Write a new content-hashed class snapshot and update the manifest.
  3. Keep prior snapshot IDs available to the share-link migration path.
  4. Carry points through renamed talents, refund points on removed talents, and retain the rest only after the current rules validate it.
  5. Verify that the official codec and the legacy codec produce a legal, round-trippable build before publishing the generated pages.

The current source records, licenses and evidence definitions are on the Sources page. Game-design comparisons are on Changes vs Classic.

What this changelog does not cover

New talents, renamed talents, moved rows, prerequisite changes and removed Classic entries are game-data facts. Use the game-data change summary or the relevant class’s static talent reference for those details. This page only tells you which snapshot the site uses and how the site migrated between versions.
